Lottie started in 2019, after brothers Will and Chris Donnelly had a negative experience when searching for care for a loved one. Will pitched the idea of Lottie to Chris over a socially-distanced picnic.
June: Will and Chris raised their first funding round, and reached £400k of Angel Investment from leading entrepreneurs including the Founder and ex-CEO of Monzo, Tom Blomfield.
July: In order to meet the deadline from Tom Blomfield, Lottie was finally launched, with a half-broken website!
August: Chris and Will celebrated Lottie’s first ever resident by visiting Trevor at his new home and delivering him a welcome gift. We even have on of our office meeting rooms named after Trevor!
October: Later in the year, another funding round was opened up and Lottie raised £2.5m of investment from venture capital firm, Kindred.
November: Our first office opened in London Bridge! By the end of the year in December 2021, Will celebrated his 100th resident placement with Lottie!
December: After a slow start, Lottie picked up momentum towards the end of 2021 and Will celebrated his 100th placement!
May: Lottie celebrated the acquisition of Found, an all-in-one CRM to support partners in going digital to manage all billing and enquiries.
June: Lottie raised another £6.1m in a Seed Funding Round from the global venture firm, General Catalyst.
July: To house the growing team, Lottie then moved into it’s new office in Shoreditch.
October: Launch of Seniorcare, Lottie’s industry leading eldercare employee benefits solution used by the likes of Unilever, Diageo and UKAS.
November: Launched Nights on Lottie, a not-for-profit initiative that gifts free prizes to UK carers and endorsed by Anton Du Beke.
January: Ranked #8 in the 100 most disruptive and innovative businesses, while also being the youngest company to feature in the Top 20.
April: Lottie’s marketplace surpassed 1m users since launching in July 2021.
August: Raised £16.35m Series A investment from leading global venture capital firm Accel.
September: Home Care was added to Lottie’s marketplace as a third service category.
January: Winner of the Exceptional Founder Award and #2 in the UK's Best Start-ups Index.
May: Lottie launched ‘Senior Swifties’ and went viral, appearing on ITV, Lorraine, Fox News (USA) and 7News (Australia)! Find more information on ITV News and our website!
July: Lottie’s marketplace surpassed 10m users since launching in July 2021.
August: Lottie officially became UK’s no.1 directory for delivering care providers the most move-ins! Data sourced from Found CRM.
September: A big month for the team! Lottie is ranked No.1 in LinkedIn Top Startups 2024! We also launched our State of Care Report, an insight into the care-seeking journey of 1000 individuals, looking at over 217,000 data points. See our report below!
2025:
January: Another great start to the year for Lottie, winning Startups 100!
April: Lottie is named as the #001 in Trustpilot's Aged Care Category and is rated the UK's best Care Finding service!
